would like to know if anyone can help me with this issue...

WSUS is up and running, clients are config through registry, have no issues seeing the clients but I noticed that the ...\windowsupdate\au registry key gets deleted everytime the system reboots which caused the client not to get updates from the WSUS server

Users have local admin rights and registry cahgne was done user local user login.  Any help would be great!

We have recently upgraded from wsus 2.0 to wsus 3.0.

All approvals and unapproved updates stayed, yet some of our servers that were setup not to receive certain updates, did in fact download those unapproved updates and then installed them.

These updates were approved for other groups but not all.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening or have even seen it themselves and if so, how does one fix this from happening again.

Thanks,

John

My WSUS 3.0 failed (crashed); a rare two RAID 5 drives failure kind of thing. How can I manually remove WSUS 3.0? The automatic uninstall did not work and I can't reinstall as it is looking for files that existed on the RAID drives and thinks the package is still installed.

Manually updating.   I use WSUS in a software development environment so I have to be careful that updates don't upset the development environment.  All the engineering PC's are in one group and I choose very carefully what to install. All works well!  Hoever, when I need to install one or two updates manually on a particular PC, it always goes to Microsoft and downloads the update (slowly) from their server instead of using the local copy on my LAN.  IS this normal practice?  I'd like it to use the local copy, obviously.  Any help?  Thanks - Dale

I can't be the only one having this problem.................I am running out of hard drive space on my servers because WSUS is a growing monster. I have cleaned up the data base and it just downloads everything again. And on top of that........which is my parent server, it is pushing all of the updates to all of my other servers in the field. If I could control what my parent server downloads, it would solve my problems, because then I could control the amount of data that is filling up my drive space. Does anyone have a sollution to my problem. My email address is ddebaillon@corrections.state.la.us

Thanks.

Hi Folks,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this message but I have this problem with WSUS I am hoping somebody knows the answer to.

I have installed WSUS and the program appears to be running. I can syncronise with the Microsoft servers and have downloaded updates to the server ready to deploy. I have also changed the setting for the pc's in Group Policy to point to the server. I know that the group policy is being applied and WSUS can see the machines. The problem I have is that I am not getting a status report from any of the 120 machines on the network? It's really beginning to annoy me as I cannot see any problems.

P.S I have used the Client Diag tool and it has come up with all passes.

Hi Sarwat,

You might want to post that on microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services
