I cannot clear the log file after entering the command:

wuauclt /clearlogfile

I used to use WSUS a lot on my servers. It's a great product  and helped me a lotWink

I really recommend it to everyone.

Some how or another I found this page while tracking down information on windows backup software?  While this page is obviously not related other than the fact that they both deal with the Windows operating system, I did find the page quite useful.

In fact, my brother and I were just discussing our plans to setup a new server for a web based application he is planning to launch late summer 2009, so I think we will be able to implement the WSUS in our plans for that.

Hi, first I want to thank you for this great site about WSUS. I really love WSUS so I want to contribute with the things that I can. I help others in forums and newsgroups most of all in spanish. In my website I make some articles about WSUS and SCE too. So the thing that I want to cmment is that I group a lot of Visio Stencils to make a WSUS & SCE Visio Stencils in order to generate diagrams about Security.

Looking for a soluition to what is probably a common problem for many.  We have several users who are remote users.  They VPN into our network and are concerned about the bandwith that would be used for updates.  Is there a way to segregate this group of users so they get their updates from Microsofts website but are still part of WSUS?

7) 4> Where Title like '%"%'

This resolved my problems.

This may be a stupid question but never the less one I cannot seem to find an answer to. I can find all sorts of information on forcing updates from the client side but cannot find any information on forcing the server to update client information in regards to updates installed after Installation. The situation I have is, we have several laptops that don't spend a lot of time on the network. I will bring them in, force updates and give them back to their respective users. The problem is I can't leave them connected to the network for an extended period of time waiting for WSUS to update their information. Is there a way to force the server to update this info? "wuauclt /detectnow" doesn't seem to do it. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Help, WSUS - Cannot Download Any updates

Hi,

I have a problem with my WSUS Server. My Wsus server will not connect and download any updates. Web Marshall on our site has been configured for IP authentication so our Wsus Sever doesn’t need a username or password to connect to the internet. We connect to the internet using port 8082. Browsing the internet with IE works fine on the Wsus server. I can connect to any site. But Wsus fails to connect. Below are some logs. It looks like a permisson problem but our Web Marshall team says there is nothing wrong with there end becuase I can browse the net using IE.  Any help on this will be great. Thanks

Hi my name is Sameer.

I working in PSC. Currently I hv WSUS installed on Windows 2000 server and working absolutly perfect.

Now my management want to shift /move this WSUS server (HP)  to the new server which has a different name. So pls anyone can guide me step by step how to move all the database, settings and configuration to new server which got diff name & hardware (IBM xSeries).
